Photovoltaic and Thermal Solar Power Plant Insurance
The “All Risks Insurance of Photovoltaic and Thermal Solar Power Plants – Lumix” provides coverage for commissioned technical facilities used for generation of electrical energy, thermal installations for water heating, and other ancillary equipment connected to them.
Coverages
This type of insurance does not list specific types of insured events (such as fire, storm, or short circuit) that fall within the scope of coverage. Instead, the underlying principle is that it covers “all risks,” except for those risks expressly specified as exclusions.

Benefits and special requirements for insured objects
Benefits:

Coverage of a wide range of risks – fire, natural disasters, short circuit, overvoltage, risks associated with machinery breakdown, and others.

Comprehensive insurance protection – the policy may be extended to include coverage for loss of gross profit resulting from an interruption of the insured plant’s operations due to material damage caused by a risk covered under the policy.
Special Requirements for Insured Solar Power Plants:

The photovoltaic modules used must be capable of withstanding mechanical loads in accordance with the European standard IEC 61215.

For ground-mounted solar plants, the entire perimeter must be covered by video surveillance connected to a security company, or by an infrared or microwave sensor system for access control. The perimeter must also be enclosed by a fence at least two metres high.

The solar plant must have a functioning lightning protection system and/or grounding system in accordance with the design specifications for its construction.

The inverters and the switchboard for connection to the transformer must be installed either in a secure and well-ventilated technical building or underneath the solar modules, so as to provide maximum protection against corrosion and atmospheric conditions.

The vegetation throughout the entire area of the solar plant must be regularly mowed and maintained at a height not exceeding 20 cm, including the areas between and around the photovoltaic panels.
