From UNIQA with love to nature

„Our logo is blue and our heart green“

„She loves me, yes, she loves me not, she loves me, yes …“ Quite popular phrase, which is the onset of many great histories. We also have a great history to tell, but with somewhat different heroes, maxims and goal. We will tell you about our green reading of a great history, we want to tell you about the beginning of our GREEN HISTORY.

In a series of short episodes we will present to you the history of a company, forest, computer, much enthusiasm and love to nature, clean air and better tomorrow.

Episode 1: That’s how it all began, with THE TEAM

Our journey began from the heart of UNIQA, namely our team and its passion for improvement of the environment in which we live. And so, step by step, we launched initiatives for mini team-buildings. To be fully honest, our idea is not fully altruistic, because, along with nature and our society, the activities also take care of our good mood. But as wise people say: „laughter is health“, we are still within the concept 😊.

In recent years we organised various activities – useful both for nature and society, and for our health. An interesting fact is that such activities, as well as laughter, increase the level of oxytocin – the hormone of happiness 😊. No superfluous details – we didn’t have low values 😊. Here is a selection of our feats:

In 2019 we managed to plant over 140 saplings as part of the national campaign „New forest of Sofia “. It is an interesting fact a mature leaf tree can produce oxygen sufficient for 10 people for 1 year, and just for 1 season. That means that with our saplings for 1 season we have provided oxygen for 1400 people for one year. You can calculate by yourselves the quantity of oxygen produced for over 2 years.😊

In that period we supported the Park for dancing bears and kindergarten „Temenuga“ in the village of Ravnets, where an area of the yard was renovated by planting flowers and trees (we continue multiplication of the oxygen from the previous paragraph, adding that trees breathe carbon dioxide – make the bill yourselves 😊), a corner with benches and working board was built, sand was bought for the sand-pits, the fence was painted. A study in Finland showed that the immune system of children at the age between 3 and 5 years improves when forest grass areas and flower pots are added to the external parts of the children institutions. In 2020, COVID-19 surprised everyone and spoiled our plans of activities, but our Eco enthusiasts were offered the possibility of attending an online seminar devoted to recycling.

In 2021, part of our team set about cleaning and fixing direction signs in the neighbourhood Sv. Marina, Pazardjik Region, and the other eco furies, aided by volunteers, University Emergency and Rescue Squad and Touristic Society „Boeritsa“ managed to reconstruct part of the marking in Lyulin mountain.

And in small steps, our history began – with improvement of the environment, of the mood, with the green hearts of our team.
